Another soldier of Syeddi Rasul Ullah (S.A.W.W)

Exactly between these coming hours, on 8th July 2007 Lieutenant Colonel Haroon Islam laid his life leading the 7th Commando Zarrar Battalion of SSG in the Lal Masjid Operation. He was the Commanding officer of "Zarrar Jarri" Nicknamed 'Bubloo' by his mother, he was a fine soldier and tactician known for his gallantry and liveliness.

Haroon was given the task of clearing up the Lal Masjid compound along with Major Tariq Anees' Rangers Anti-Terrorist Company. He led the siege for days, positioned snipers around the complex himself. While leading the operation inside, he received two bullets in his neck and leg, resulting in his death.

He was posthumously awarded the Hilal-e-Shujaat by the President of Pakistan. Since then Haroon has become one of the faces of Pakistan's war against extremism and our Special Services Group. Please take a moment and say a prayer for this brave soldier who rests in peace.
